Millfields CE Primary School Closure Proposal Consultation - Falling roll and pupil numbers

As of September 2026, the school roll stands at 21 pupils, against a published admission number of 30 and a physical capacity exceeding 210 places, excluding nursery provision. In September 2026, only three pupils started in the reception class. The Nursery provision was unable to operate due to insufficient pupil numbers. 

As a result of the declining roll, the school now operates three classes, with all year groups except Year 6 taught within mixed-age arrangements, as outlined in Table 1 below. Forecast pupil projections indicate a continued decline in pupil numbers, with no evidence to suggest a sustainable recovery in local demand.
