Application process

Grant applications can only be made online. You will need to create a MyWirral account if you don't already have one. Draft applications can be saved through the MyWirral account if applicants do not complete them in a single attempt.

Please read the Guidance thoroughly before attempting to complete the application. 

The application form has 6 sections: 

  • applicant details
  • about the organisation
  • about the project
  • objectives and other benefits
  • eligibility, financial assessment
  • declarations and terms and conditions

Some sections of the online form are character restricted with a clear maximum character count or approximate word count included on the relevant questions. The character count includes spaces and punctuation, and you will not be able to exceed the specified amount when completing each section.

Timings for applications

Online applications must be submitted by noon on Thursday 4 September 2025. Successful applicants to be informed by Wednesday 17 September 2025.

Successful applicants will be able to claim any agreed grant in two instalments. The first instalment will be 70% of grant awarded. The second instalment of the final 30% will be paid on submission of satisfactory evidence of commitment to spend. Payments will be made by BACS.

Evidence you will need to provide

You will need to provide the following evidence with your application:    

  • evidence that you operate from, or own, a commercial premises within the defined area
  • evidence that you hold a lease for the premises which you occupy (where applicable)
  • proof of landlord’s permission to undertake works (where applicable)
  • detailed quotes for all items and works (where applicable). The costs should be itemised. They should have enough detail to allow us to decide which costs are eligible. To get the best value for money you should shop around. Look for companies with a good track record of delivering the services you need.
  • a copy of your most recent self-assessment tax return (self-employed only)
  • evidence of any necessary planning permissions obtained or being sought. Copies of decision notices for previous planning approvals can be found by searching for planning applications.
  • if you are registered for Business Rates you will need to provide your reference number. This begins with 7 and can be found on your Business Rates bill.
