Applications for school places in September 2021
If your child is due to move up to Foundation 2 in a primary school or Year 7 in a secondary school in September 2021, and you are a Wirral resident, the online application process will open on 1 September 2020.
Assessment for grammar school education in 2021
Online registration for year six assessment to attend a non-Catholic grammar school in Wirral in 2021 is now closed.
The test comprises two tests taken on the same day - the test date will be 21 September 2020. The tests will be provided by GL Assessment and will include questions on verbal reasoning, non-verbal reasoning, and mathematics.
All children will take the assessment at a test centre. We will require proof of ID for your child before they can be assessed.

No arrangements will be made to assess children if request forms are received after 31 May 2020, unless they have moved to Wirral from outside of the borough.
You will need to complete a paper registration form if you wish to apply.
Possible change to grammar school assessments due to COVID-19
Published assessment dates are currently intended to go ahead as planned. However, changes might be needed in order to comply with Public Health England guidance, including social distancing.
We are waiting for further guidance from the Department for Education. If there are any changes to the arrangements parents will be notified as soon as possible.

Secondary school information for parents
The online application process for children who are due to start Year 7 in September 2021 will open on 1 September 2020.
If your child is taking a selective test for entry to grammar school, please do not submit your application until after you have received the outcome of the tests, which will be sent to you by 21 October 2020.
If you are applying to start Y7 in September 2020, the online system has closed and you will need to complete a printable application form.

Apply for a transfer to a Wirral primary or secondary school
Admission to Wirral schools is co-ordinated by the council. Schools cannot offer places directly. Parents are advised to discuss the reason for requesting a transfer with their current school prior to making an application.
