Post 16 Transport Policy Statement

Merseytravel operates a range of bus services (700 series) to the school from local areas. Bus routes, timings and ticket costs may vary from year to year. Information can be obtained from Merseytravel. The buses are open to members of the public to travel on.

Single Ticket prices presently cost 0.80p per journey for a pupil under 19.

My Ticket is a daily ticket available from the bus driver at the cost of £2.20. It allows unlimited travel per day.

Solo and Walrus Cards (bus only) are available at a weekly cost £9.60 or term time £85.80 for pupils under 19.

1 Zone Trio tickets (bus and rail) under 19 cost £9.60 per week and £87.75 per term.   

2 Zone Trio tickets (bus and rail) under 19 cost £12.00 per week and £111.15 per term.

The college provides a double deck vehicle from Hamilton Square each morning (8.30am) free of charge with a second collection at Birkenhead Park. There is no return journey. The vehicle predominantly is to provide a link between the railway station and school for those students who are travelling from further afield.

The College offers subsidised bus services including Heswall Service incorporating Heswall, Pensby and Irby and a South Wirral Service incorporating Eastham, Bromborough and Bebington.

Individual bus tickets will also be available to purchase in advance. Equivalent one year young person’s SOLO travel pass £238, term time SOLO travel pass £79.20.  

The C and W bus services operate for students of Calday Grange and West Kirby Grammar schools who live in New Brighton, Liscard, Wallasey, Leasowe, Chester and North Wales. These buses operate on a daily basis and timetables for these routes are available from the school.

The current cost of an annual pass for the C Series (Wallasey) service is £465.00 per year and for the W Series (North Wales and Chester) is £855.00 per year. These costs may be subject to increase.

Infrequent ad-hoc journeys may be available dependent upon availability, these passes cost £1.50 (C Series) or £2.50 (W Series) per one way journey and may be obtained and arranged with the Administration Office at Calday Grange Grammar School or Reception at West Kirby Grammar School.
