Getting started with Borrowbox

For the best experience borrow from a smart phone, tablet or Kindle Fire (the only Kindle model that supports Borrowbox):

  • Visit your app store (App Store for Apple products, Google Play for android or Amazon app store for Kindle Fire)
  • Search for Borrowbox and download & install the app
  • Open the app and search for ‘Wirral Libraries’
  • Enter your borrower number and four-digit pin (call us or ask at the counter if you have forgotten this)
  • Browse and borrow!

You will be notified when your loans are about to expire and can choose to renew or return. If you forget, your loans will automatically expire at the end of the loan period, so you don’t need to worry about fines.

From a desktop computer or laptop:

  • Open Wirral Libraries - BorrowBox
  • Log in with your borrower number and four-digit pin to browse and borrow books to read straight from the screen.
  • Should you want to download your books, you will need to install Adobe Digital Editions (dependent on compatibility) – see below.

From your (non-kindle) eReader:

eBooks from your BorrowBox account can be transferred to most (non-kindle) eReaders from your Windows or Mac computer using Adobe Digital Editions (dependent on compatibility)

  • Step 1 – install Adobe Digital Editions on your computer/laptop and create an Adobe ID - this will act as a library on your desktop, displaying your eBooks with loan dates etc;
  • Step 2 – Download ebooks from the BorrowBox website to your computer or laptop;
  • Step 3 – Connect your eReader to your computer or laptop and transfer the eBook to your device.
