Electric cars
Did you know that, for the same journey, the charging cost for an electric vehicle can be half the fuel costs for a petrol or diesel vehicle? When replacing your car why not consider swapping to an electric vehicle? Although they are more expensive to buy than a petrol or diesel car, in the long run you’ll reduce the maintenance and running costs enormously as well as your emissions. There is also growing market of second-hand vehicles.
The government have committed to end the sale of new diesel and petrol cars by 2030 and the infrastructure needed to support that is growing. Wirral Council have a network of electric vehicle charging points located on streets throughout the borough and there is a growing network of private charging points that can be found on the Zap-map website.
The next best option is a hybrid vehicle, or if you are going to buy a petrol or diesel vehicle choose the smallest one you can with the lowest emissions.
