How Council Tax Reduction works
Any Council Tax Reduction will be paid directly into your Council Tax account, and you will receive a reduced bill.
When will a Council Tax Reduction payment start?
If you qualify for Council Tax Reduction, we will normally pay your benefit from the Monday following the day we receive your completed claim form.
Backdating
We may be able to backdate your benefit before the date your claim is received, for a maximum of 3 months. This is as long as you were entitled to benefit for that period. You will need to request a backdate when you make your application.
For us to work out how much benefit you will be entitled to, you need to give us proof of your income and savings for the period you want to claim.
