It’s illegal to put up unauthorised posters and stickers in public places. Enforcement action can be taken against the both the fly posters and the businesses being advertised.
Council enforcement officers can issue £80 fixed penalty notices for all individual instances of fly posting on a public street to individuals caught fly posting.
The penalties apply to the defacement of all objects including phone boxes, bus stops, shelters, bridges and lampposts.
