Seacombe regeneration

The council’s Draft Local Plan identifies Seacombe as a priority area for regeneration. A detailed Masterplan is being developed for the Wallasey Town Hall Quarter. This will help to shape the future of the area.

Masterplans provide detailed guidance within a particular area. For example, they set out guidance for building heights and the materials used in new development. They are designed to be adopted as formal planning documents.

The council has carried out two public engagement exercises:

  • a consultation in October and November 2022 which focused on issues and opportunities for Seacombe
  • a consultation in October to December 2023 on a draft Wallasey Town Hall Quarter Masterplan

The Masterplan, updated following the consultation, is expected to be considered by the council in summer 2024.

Work has started on the demolition of the Wallasey Town Hall North and South Annexes. Up to 149 new homes will be built as part of the redevelopment. This forms part of the wider Masterplan vision. This work will be partly funded by £2.3m of Brownfield Land Release Funding.

The council will be engaging with the local community on the proposals for new homes later in 2024.
