Winter Household Support Fund Small Grants Programme

Applications have now closed.

Following on from the successful completion of the first round of Household Support Fund Small Grants Programme (Summer), community groups helping people in need applied for grants of up to £20,000 via the second round of Household Support Fund Small Grants Programme (Winter).

Grants of up to £20,000 were available for community-based food and welfare support providers helping local people in need this winter.

The Small Grants Programme is specifically aimed at frontline groups to help residents struggling with food costs, energy and water bills, and other essentials.

Projects which will help people in need who might not be able to access other kinds of government support were particularly encouraged to apply for the grants.

The Small Grants Programme has been supported with a total of £1,300,000 to the end of March 2024 and is part of Wirral’s Household Support Fund allocation of £6,098,690 from the Department for Work and Pensions, which is available to support those most in need with the cost of food, energy (heating, cooking, lighting), water bills and other essentials.

The deadline for applications for the Winter round was 13 November 2023.

Groups and organisations will have until 15 March 2024 to spend the funding under the winter scheme and will be subject to the established audit requirements (submission of receipts, etc.), as with the monitoring of previous small grants programmes.

Successful applicants will be required to provide actual figures on spend no later than midday Friday 15 March 2024. The return of this data forms part of the DWP directive.
