The local area is making a plan to make education for children and young people who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in our local area better. We would like your ideas and views to help us make this plan. We think that you all should be able to go to a good nursery, school or college as close to your home as possible.

We have chosen four areas for improvement that we would like to work on over the next four years. These are:

  1. Make education settings better for people with SEND. To do this we want to make sure that staff in nurseries, schools and colleges have the knowledge and skills to support you to learn, and ensure that all the people that can help you work well together.
  2. Make sure that the needs of young people are seen early so that the support is given at the right time. To do this we want to ensure that the adults you work with are well trained and know how to help you.
  3. Make sure that you have skills and confidence to move from nursery to school, and from school to college. To do this we want to involve you in planning for your future and get the right help when you change school or go to college, and to make sure you get the right support and advice to prepare you for work after you leave school or college.
  4. Make sure that you and your parents and carers have a say in the way SEND services are shaped and delivered. To do this we want to make sure that you and you parents are a real part of planning your education and we hear your views.

We want to ensure you have a say in how help and support is planned in the future and we want to enable you and your family to say when things go well, what could be better and ensure people who listen to you make changes.
