What will I learn?
Equality of opportunity is still a work in progress in the UK today, although the equality laws were passed ten years ago. For example, women are still earning 9.1% less than men, whilst people from black and minority ethnic groups still fail to do as well when it comes to education and the jobs they end up with, compared to people from other groups.
In this workshop you will learn why having equality of opportunity should mean that everybody has an equal chance to take up opportunities, as well as being able to make full use of the opportunities on offer and to fulfil their potential. In simpler terms, whatever your age, race, gender, you should have the opportunity to reach your full potential in life.
You will also discover where our diversity comes from and why we should celebrate the differences between people within a group and place a positive value on those differences.
