Wirral Council is responsible for approximately 737 miles of road throughout the borough. The 2019 road maintenance programme will see improvements to more than 40 main roads and 140 minor roads in Wirral.
The council is investing close to £5 million to maintain our roads, this will include fixing potholes and repairing other problems with the surface of our roads. The council’s contractors will use a variety of materials and surfacing methods. This depends on the construction of the road and the level of durability that is needed.
The roads to be repaired are chosen after an extensive process of prioritisation. This includes surveys and reports from highways inspectors, Councillors and members of the public.
