How the scheme will be funded
The project has been funded by the Wirral Sustainable Transport Enhancements Programme Package (STEP).
The STEP funding is part of the Growth Deal approved under the Devolution Agreement, announced in July 2014, where the government allocated a total of £41.4 million to the Liverpool City Region for Sustainable Transport to make improvements between 2015/16 to 2020/21. This scheme was part of the final year of programme.
More than £820,000 was invested in the project.
The project started in January 2021 and was completed in July 2021.
To complete the project, traffic management was put in place and involved footpath closures and lane closures along New Chester Road and any affected side roads.
