Countryside Access Forum
The Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000 placed a new duty on Highway Authorities to establish a Local Access Forum for their area.
Wirral Council has therefore joined forces with Liverpool, Sefton, Knowsley, St Helens and Halton Councils to establish a Local Countryside Access Forum for Merseyside.
The Forum is made up of 14 local people representing land-managers, user groups and the less able.
The function of the Local Access Forum is to provide advice to the constituent local authorities and to the Countryside Agency on how to make the countryside more accessible and enjoyable for open air recreation, in ways which address social, economic and environmental interests.
The Forum will encourage and assist access provision and give advice on issues of particular relevance to the Merseyside area.
