Education of Looked After Children
Every school has a designated teacher for ‘looked after’ children who acts as a resource and advocate for ‘looked after’ pupils.
The designated teacher can be assisted by the Looked After Children’s Education Service (LACES). The LACES team is part of the Learning and Achievement Branch whose role is to monitor the education for Looked After Children.
Members of the LACES team also work closely with Designated Teachers and Social Workers so that Looked After Children receive the appropriate educational provision.
