Hackney carriage taxi fares

Tariffs 1 - 4 are the maximum that can be charged within the borough of Wirral and up to 4 miles beyond the district boundary. Drivers and passengers can agree a fare in advance, but drivers cannot charge more than the fare shown on the taximeter.

Tariff 5 applies to journeys which terminate 4 or more miles beyond the district boundary of Wirral. Tariff 5 does not apply in cases where drivers and passengers agree a fare before the start of a journey which will end 4 or more miles beyond the district boundary.

These fares are effective from 11 December 2025. A copy of this tarif must be displayed clearly inside all hackney carriage vehicles.

Tariff 5

Long Journeys (4+ miles beyond the district boundary)
Applies to journeys where the destination is 4 miles or more from the district boundary. Tariff 5 DOES NOT APPLY where a fare has been AGREED IN ADVANCE.
