There is strictly only one entry allowed per person and by submitting an entry, you are agreeing to be bound by these terms and conditions.
You must provide your name and home address, contact telephone number and your age or details of your school on the official entry form. These details will be used by the Promoter to categorise the competition entries by age, identify the authors of the winning entries and contact the winners.
Entries can be submitted directly by the entrant or via the entrant’s school, using the official entry form. Please email chrissalmonpoetry@wirral.gov.uk or by post FAO Diane Mitchell, Birkenhead Central Library, Borough Road, Birkenhead CH41 2XB.
Where the entrant is under 18 years of age, the parent or guardian’s consent must be given. This consent can be facilitated via a school entry or a direct entry can be signed by the parent or guardian. Consent can be withdrawn at any time by contacting Diane Mitchell using the contact details given in bold text above, before 31 March 2023.
No amendments or alterations may be made to a poem once it has been submitted and competition entries cannot be returned.
The competition will be judged, and prizes awarded by a panel of judges, whose decision is final. There is one prize for each age group of £100. The Promoter will contact the winners to inform them that they have won a prize on or before 31 May 2023. They will be invited along with 2 guests to an award event if possible or otherwise an online event. We might be able to provide extra tickets for the award ceremony for a small fee, with all proceeds going to the Chris Salmon Charity. The poems might be broadcast on Wirral Libraries social media with the winners’ names.
Where the Promoter wishes to make additional use of the winners’ personal details, then informed consent will be sought. This additional use may include, but not be limited to, publishing the names and photographs of the winners. This publicity material will be published on social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and on the Chris Salmon Foundation, Wirral Libraries and Wirral Poetry Festival website.
A winner has the right to withdraw consent at any time and this withdrawal will take immediate effect. This does not apply to any processing which took place before consent was withdrawn.
No correspondence will be entered into regarding the interpretation of these terms and conditions. If you have any questions or queries regarding the competition, please contact Diane Mitchell email chrissalmonpoetry@wirral.gov.uk or by post FAO Diane Mitchell, Birkenhead Central Library, Borough Road, Birkenhead CH41 2XB.
