Wirral Libraries are now offering an Order and Collect service.
You can order up to 8 paperback, hardback and talking books at a time and collect them from one of the four libraries.
You will need to be a library member to place an order with this service, but you can become a member at any time by signing up here to join the library.
How to order
Using the form below, input your library membership number and details.
Select the books you would like to order, this can be done one of two ways:
- Lucky dip. 3 or 4 books will be chosen at random for you by a member of the library team, or;
- Tell us your preferences. Fill in details about what books you enjoy (genres, previous titles that you have read or authors you enjoy) and a librarian will choose a selection of books that they think you might enjoy.
We cannot guarantee that we will be able to provide you with specific titles at this time but please include these in your notes on the form and we will do our best to find them for you, or select something else, based on your preferences, that we think you’ll enjoy.
Select when and where is best for you to collect the books from, with a time preference of morning or afternoon.
Order and Collect is currently only available from Birkenhead Central, Bebington Central, Wallasey Central or West Kirby libraries.
Once completed, the system will generate a reference number for you and you'll be contacted by the method you chose, when your books are ready for collection.
Or you can order over the phone by calling one of the libraries operating the service:
- Birkenhead Central and Bebington Central: 0151 606 2114
- Wallasey Central and West Kirby: 0151 929 7724
How to collect from the library
You must bring your own bag. Staff will not be able to provide you with a bag at this time.
It is mandatory to wear a face covering in public buildings, including libraries.
When collecting items from the library, separate entrances and exits will be marked, with a one-way system around the building and hand sanitising stations available.
You should follow the safety measures in place and the signs around the building to help protect yourself, staff, and other visitors to the library.
Books will be handled in line with government guidance and will not be redistributed for 72 hours.
No toilet facilities will currently be available to the public, except in emergencies.
How do I return books or items?
You can return books during opening hours to Birkenhead Central Library, Bebington Central Library, Wallasey Central Library or West Kirby Library. Any items or books currently on loan from libraries will continue to be automatically renewed if you can’t get to us or would like to hold onto them for a little longer.
Are other services available?
Birkenhead Central, Bebington Central, Wallasey Central and West Kirby libraries will also be open for browsing as well as offering the Order and Collect service.
You will not need to book ahead to visit a library for browsing but the number of people allowed into the building will be limited so you may need to queue if busy so to help us with this, please keep your visit short.
All children under eight must also be accompanied by an adult.
You will not be able to access One Stop Shop services at any Wirral libraries.
