The authority has a permit system in place for the launch and recovery of powered craft. You need a permit to take a vehicle onto the foreshore or to launch a boat around Wirral's coast. Some slipways are restricted for emergency use only.

Launching and access to the foreshore via Victoria Road South Slipway, New Brighton
The launching of craft and access to moored craft at New Brighton via the slipway is managed through a permit system. This is administered on behalf of the council by Safewater Training Limited, Victoria Parade, New Brighton, CH45 2PH (Tel: 0151 630 0466). The fees charged by the council are:
Powered craft | £120 |
Unpowered craft | £50 |
Commercial craft | £185 |
Vehicle only | £50 |

Provide all of the documentation requested on the form to Safewater and proof of online payment (screenshot or printed receipt).
Pay online
- visit wirral.gov.uk/make-payment > Pay online by card button > Other Payments > Slipway Permit Payments
- make a note of the amount paid and the online payment reference (to input on page 3 of the application form)
