In response to the COVID-19 outbreak, can you help us to keep the most vulnerable adults in our Wirral communities safe?
The adult social care sector is experiencing staff shortages as a result of the COVID-19 situation. We need additional staff and volunteers to help vulnerable people.
Can you help?
There are opportunities for volunteers and for paid work. We are looking for kind, compassionate and caring people who are able to work with our local home care providers in supporting vulnerable and older people in their own homes.
No experience is required, we are looking for people who share our values and are passionate about making a difference locally.
What training do I need to do the role?
Volunteers will be paired with an experienced care worker and will be provided training and e-learning which generally includes an introduction to social care, manual handling guidance and on the job guidance and support.
Paid roles will be provided with training and e-learning to complete their Care Certificate as well as additional guidance and support.
What type of work can I get involved with?
The tasks you will be asked to do will depend on whether you volunteer or take on a paid role. We’d like to work with people who can work across flexible shifts and work patterns and who may need to travel across the borough.
Both voluntary and paid roles will be supported with training, guidance and support. Volunteers will work alongside more experienced care staff and be provided with an introduction to social care as part of their training.
Those undertaking a paid role will be supported to complete the Care Certificate alongside other relevant training.
Typical work includes:
- helping people with daily activities in their own homes or residential settings
- helping people with their day to day needs such as getting and preparing meals and drinks
- helping people to take their medication
- supporting with personal care tasks such as washing and dressing
- general support to help people keep safe and well
Both types of role will require a DBS check. You will need to undertake this check if you don’t already have one.
