Bond scheme to help pay a deposit

The bond scheme may be useful if you’re struggling to afford an advance deposit for privately rented accommodation.

Instead of paying cash, we can provide a bond which underwrites the deposit, up to the value of one month’s Local Housing Allowance.

The bond period is for six months and you must save so you can pay the deposit to the landlord when the bond expires.

Where applicable you must agree to receive tenancy support - a support package which will help you through the initial months of a new tenancy.

You can apply for the bond if you:

  • are over 18
  • have lived or worked in Wirral for the last six months
  • are living in housing need or at risk of being homeless
  • you cannot afford to pay a deposit yourself

What you need to do

If you are aged 18 or over, complete the housing options form and an officer will contact you should you require an appointment.
