Wirral Council is opening up the opportunity for organisations to bid for a small grants programme, targeting some specific actions identified which should contribute to ensuring the best outcomes for refugees, those seeking asylum and vulnerable migrants in Wirral.
To inform this work, Wirral Council has produced a Wirral Refugee and Asylum Seeker Action Plan 2019-2025 which focuses on five key thematic areas:
- English of Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)
- Social bridges and bonds
Each thematic area contains a number of associated actions to target the best outcomes for refugees, those seeking asylum and vulnerable migrants in Wirral, focusing on enabling families and individuals to integrate successfully into British life. Each of these thematic areas will be regularly reviewed and updated as work progresses.
The action plan itself aligns closely with the Liverpool City Region Syrian Resettlement Programme Action Plan (produced following a wider review of the Syrian Resettlement programme currently in place in the city region) and integrates key areas identified as a result of this review, for further focus to improve outcomes.
To support this, Wirral has developed a small grants programme which we would now like to invite organisations to bid for.
The grant funding programme opened 23 September 2019 and will close at 5pm on 11 October 2019.
This is a two year grant programme with the aim of supporting organisations to address the actions identified within each thematic area.
Applicants may apply for up to two years of funding, which will provide the opportunity for organisations to submit applications for longer-term projects that will make a greater, more sustainable impact for people seeking asylum, refugees and vulnerable migrants.
