Wirral Council, in association with ScottishPower and Warmer Energy Services, is offering local owner occupiers and private tenants the chance to replace their old gas or oil boiler free-of-charge, subject to eligibility and a survey.
Who can apply?
If you receive certain welfare benefits (see document below), you could qualify for a new ‘A’-rated gas boiler under the Affordable Warmth scheme. You don’t need to be a ScottishPower customer and you don’t need to buy anything from them.
How to apply
If you think your current boiler is not heating your home as well as it should be, give ScottishPower’s installer, Warmer Energy Services, a call on Freephone 0808 178 2206 to discuss whether you and your property qualify. This offer is available until 31 March 2017.
Cosy Homes Heating Grants
If you are on welfare benefits but find you do not qualify for the Affordable Warmth scheme, Wirral Council’s Cosy Homes Heating Grants can help owner occupiers or private tenants on certain welfare benefits improve their heating systems.
The grant can be used for central heating installation, boiler replacements and heating efficiency improvements, such as thermostats.
You can apply for a grant if:
- you are aged 18 or over on the date of application
- you live in the dwelling as your main residence
- you have an owners interest, or be a private tenant with landlord’s consent to the works
- you are receiving a qualifying income-related benefit
