Current status in Wirral

The local COVID alert level is High (Tier 2).

The number of people testing positive for COVID-19 is once again increasing in Wirral.

There is still widespread community transmission, with new positive COVID-19 cases being seen each day across Wirral and in all age groups.

The current level of 390 cases per week (in the 7 days to 17 December 2020, the most recent day for which figures are available).

Weekly data from the Office for National Statistics (published on 22 December 2020) showed there had been 79 registered deaths in Wirral. 10% of these (or 8 in actual numbers) were COVID-19 deaths.
