There is widespread community transmission, for example between family members, with new positive COVID-19 cases being seen each day across Wirral and in all age groups.

The current level is 1,965 cases per week (in the 7 days to 1 January 2021, the most recent day for which figures are complete).

Weekly data from the Office for National Statistics (published on 6 January 2021) showed there had been 69 registered deaths in Wirral. 12% of these (or 8 in actual numbers) were COVID-19 deaths.
