There is widespread community transmission, for example between family members, with new positive COVID-19 cases being seen each day across Wirral and in all age groups.

The current level is 1,816 cases per week (in the 7 days to 31 December 2020, the most recent day for which figures are complete).

Weekly data from the Office for National Statistics (published on 29 December 2020) showed there had been 84 registered deaths in Wirral. 9.5% of these (or 8 in actual numbers) were COVID-19 deaths.
