Current status in Wirral

The COVID-19 alert level is: National Lockdown (Stay at Home).

The number of people testing positive for COVID-19 is currently extremely high.

There is widespread community transmission, for example between family members, with new positive COVID-19 cases being seen each day across Wirral and in all age groups.

The current level is 914 cases per week (in the 7 days to 31 January 2021, the most recent day for which figures are complete).

Weekly data from the Office for National Statistics (published on 2 February 2021) showed there had been 148 registered deaths in Wirral. 47.3% of these (or 70 in actual numbers) were COVID-19 deaths. Total deaths from COVID-19 in Wirral are now 732.
