Current status in Wirral

The local COVID alert level is High (Tier 2).

The number of people testing positive for COVID-19 has reduced considerably in Wirral but is still high.

There is still widespread community transmission, with new positive COVID-19 cases being seen each day across Wirral and in all age groups.

The current level of 168 cases per week (in the 7 days to 3 December 2020, the most recent day for which figures are available).

Weekly data from the Office for National Statistics (published on 8 December 2020) showed there had been 66 registered deaths in Wirral. 18% of these (or 12 in actual numbers) were COVID-19 deaths.
