Current status in Wirral

The local COVID alert level is High (Tier 2).

The number of people testing positive for COVID-19 has reduced considerably in Wirral but is still high.

There is still widespread community transmission, with new positive COVID-19 cases being seen each day across Wirral and in all age groups.

The current level of 355 cases per week (in the 7 days to 16 December 2020, the most recent day for which figures are available).

Weekly data from the Office for National Statistics (published on 15 December 2020) showed there had been 83 registered deaths in Wirral. 12% of these (or 12 in actual numbers) were COVID-19 deaths.
