Current status in Wirral

The number of people testing positive for COVID-19 in Wirral is reducing, but still remains too high.

There is widespread community transmission, for example between family members, with new positive COVID-19 cases being seen each day across Wirral and in all age groups.

The current level is 79 cases per week (in the 7 days to 27 March 2021, the most recent day for which figures are complete).

Weekly data from the Office for National Statistics (published on 30 March 2021) showed there had been 60 registered deaths in Wirral. 8.3% of these (or 5 in actual numbers) were COVID-19 deaths. Total deaths from COVID-19 in Wirral are now 965.
