Applications for this fund closed on Monday 17 August 2020. Details of awards will be announced shortly.
The fund offered small grants for community-based food and welfare support providers. It aims to help ensure food and essential supplies are available to people most in need across Wirral.
The £75,000 fund was available for bids of up to £3,000 from local groups and organisations. Groups must spend their funding by 31 October 2020 and provide a brief outcome report shortly after.
Funding was available for activities to help people who are struggling to get food and essential supplies due to the impact of coronavirus. This could include, for example, but is not limited to:
- providing support to individuals and families in financial hardship, but who do not currently meet various thresholds
- enabling social supermarkets to become Covid-safer by funding protective equipment - screens, face coverings, gloves etc.
- extending the availability of discounted food – reducing the price of lunches, food hampers and other food support
- providing budgeting or meal planning courses
