Sunday trading

The Sunday Trading Act 1994 places a general restriction on the opening of large shops on Sundays.

The hours of opening are restricted to a six hour continuous period between the hours of 10am and 6pm.

Loading and/or unloading from such stores on a Sunday is prohibited before 9 am, unless specific consent is given by the Local Authority.

A public register is held by the Local Authority giving details of the name and address of such shops and the permitted hours of opening.
