Swap a bin for another size

You can ask to swap your current bin for another size.

Cost

Green general waste bins and brown garden waste bins are £45 from 1 April 2024.

Grey recycling bins are £22 from 1 April 2024.

There is no cost:

• if you need to change the size of the bin due to a medical condition
• if you need a smaller bin due to a storage issue and you already get an assisted collection

Why is there a charge to swap a bin?

The council does not have the budget to pay for new bins. Many other councils also charge for swapping bins.

We are legally permitted to charge for this service. This falls under Section 46 of the Environmental Protection Act (1990).

The charges apply to all households and housing providers.
