Like many other councils we have been looking at ways to increase the amount of household waste recycled in Wirral.

Last year we held a consultation to allow people to tell us their views on the two proposed options for green bin collections alongside a food waste collection.

A decision on the food waste collection service will be made in the coming months, and is part of a wider regional review of waste collection.

Public responses to the consultation

The consultation covered two options and the responses can be viewed below.

Option 1

Retaining the current size bin (240 litres) but reducing the frequency of collection from fortnightly to every three weeks and introducing a food waste collection.

Option 2

Retaining the fortnightly collection frequency but exchanging the current 240 litre wheelie bins for 140 litre wheelie bins and introducing a food waste collection.
