Tips (household waste recycling centres) are provided by Merseyside Recycling and Waste Authority and accept a range of household materials for recycling, from batteries, cans and cardboard, through to garden clippings, glass bottles and wood. They also accept bulky items such as furniture and white goods (for example, fridges and freezers).

Vans and trailers
An appointment system is in place at all tips for people using commercial-type vehicles such as vans or trailers between 2 to 3 metres (external box dimensions).
Making an appointment is easy to do and is free of charge. Residents using a van of any size or a large trailer are allowed a maximum of 12 visits over the year to recycle and dispose of household waste (this includes green and garden waste).
People using a standard car do not need to make a booking to use the recycling centres unless you intend to visit with a trailer between 2 to 3 metres (external box dimensions) in length.
Asbestos
A free disposal service via appointment only is available for cement bonded asbestos products at Bidston Household Waste Recycling Centre, Wallasey Bridge Road, CH41 1EB.
If you use a contractor to remove your waste, this waste becomes trade waste and it will not be accepted at the site. Your contractor will be responsible for disposing of this waste.
Recycling banks in council car parks
If there is fly tipping around a recycling bank located in a council car park, report it to us below. All other problems with the recycling bank should be reported to the company direct.
