Wirral Council’s continuous improvement has been recognised again following a ‘Peer Review’ assessment by local government experts.

The most recent Peer Review was held in November 2015, when the council invited a team of experts from across the public sector to review the Wirral Plan and the council’s plans for delivering it.

The Peer Review found that the council had made major progress in developing the Wirral Plan and the Wirral Partnership, and also endorsed the initial approach for changing the design and operation of the council, as well as highlighting that a new approach to large-scale transformation was required. The review findings also confirmed that there needs to be a stronger focus on long-term financial planning, developing a more commercial approach and fully aligning resources to the Wirral Plan pledges.
