Wallasey teenager gets ASBO

Wirral Anti-Social Behaviour Team, in partnership with Merseyside Police, has taken action against Nathan Creighton of Manor Road, following a catalogue of anti-social behaviour. 

The 16-year old was referred into Wirral's Challenge & Support process after aving been identified as engaging in persistent anti-social behaviour.

The Challenge & Support process is designed to address anti-social behaviour by young people by combining enforcement for unacceptable actions with support and intervention to address the underlying causes of their behaviour.

Nathan agreed to sign an Acceptable Behaviour Contract in October 2010; a voluntary agreement not to engage in certain types of unacceptable behaviour. Despite a significant amount of support being provided to him, he continued to engage in anti-social behaviour. 

On 18th August 2010 at Wirral Youth Court, Nathan was issued with a 2-year Anti-Social Behaviour Order. 

Under the terms of the ASBO, Nathan is banned from using threatening, abusive, or insulting words or behaviour, that are likely to cause harassment alarm or distress or fear of unlawful violence to any persons not of the same household within the Metropolitan Borough of Wirral area.

He was also banned from entering within the boundaries of any private dwelling, including gardens and outbuildings, without the permission of the owner or lawful occupier.

He was further ordered not to associate in a public place, or any place to which the public have access with four named individuals .

Caroline Laing, Manager of Wirral Anti-Social Behaviour Team, said: "The behaviour of this young person has had a very negative impact upon residents.”

Inspector Mike Barrett from Merseyside Police’s East Wallasey neighbourhood team added: "We will ensure that should this behaviour persist we will continue to take robust action against this individual. Our work with the Anti-Social Behaviour Team to identify and target the small number of individuals who are causing problems for local people is continuing.”

The Anti-Social Behaviour Order remains in force until 19th August 2012. If breached and proven, Nathan Creighton faces up to two years in detention and training.
