New era for Wirral schools
Pupils and staff at Pensby Boys and Girls Schools have reported an excellent start to their new Federation.
The two secondary schools came together as a ‘hard federation’ in May following agreement by both governing bodies.
The Pensby High Schools Federation will enable the two schools to work more in partnership under a single governing body to ensure continued success in providing a high standard of single sex education combined with the most effective use of resources.
Other benefits include the sharing of educational best practice among teachers and improving curriculum opportunities for students at both schools.
The two schools are on adjacent sites and have already been working together for the past 20 years to provide a joint Sixth Form.
Under the Federation each school retains its identity and role within the community and has a separate legal identity in respect of its budget, admissions and performance assessment.
Chair of the new Governing Body Arthur Armstrong, said: “The new Governing Body are very happy with how the new arrangements have begun. We will continue to work hard to ensure that a high standard of single sex education continues to be offered to West Wirral pupils both now and in the future.”
