A Wirral Star Party
Wirral Country Park is to host an exciting event next month, which will give people a chance to stargaze with experts from the Liverpool Astronomical Society.
The Wirral Star Party is designed to stimulate interest in the fascinating science of astronomy which includes the study of stars, galaxies and planets. With less light pollution than many more built up areas of Wirral, the park located in Thurstaston is an ideal place to survey the sky.
Councillor Lesley Rennie, Cabinet Member for Culture, Tourism and Leisure said: “The beautiful surrounds of Wirral Country Park are the perfect place to stargaze. We are proud to offer a wide range of events through our parks and I am sure that this will be an enchanting experience for everyone who takes part.”
The Wirral Star Party will be held at 7.30pm on March 3rd. It is free to attend and will provide an entertaining insight into the skies, including a chance to use telescopes with guidance from experienced members of the Liverpool Astronomical Society.
The event is part of a regular series of ‘Star Parties’ held by the Society across Merseyside.
Booking is not necessary, however anyone planning to attend should wear suitable clothing and footwear for the night-time event. Tea and Coffee will be available, as well as free parking at the visitor centre.
