Oval offers free trial of new hockey game

The Oval, Wirral, is to be the first local venue to host a brand new take on the game of hockey.

Beginning on 28th February and running every subsequent Tuesday, the ‘Rush Hockey’ sessions will take place at the Oval between 7pm-9pm.

Rush Hockey works on the same principle as the traditional 11-a-side field hockey game, but takes place with fewer players, on a smaller pitch with a bigger, softer ball.

As an incentive to encourage people to take part, the Oval is offering people the chance to attend the first six weeks of sessions for free.

So whether you’ve played hockey before and are looking to get back into the game, or whether you’ve never played before but fancy trying a new and exciting activity, Rush Hockey could be what you’ve been looking for.

Rush Hockey is available to anyone over the age of 16 and each game will feature either four or five players per side. All equipment is provided.

The first six weeks will be free to all participants. Subsequently each session will cost £4.50 per person, or £2.25 for Invigor8 members.

To take part either register your interest by calling the Wirral leisure centre booking line, 0151 606 2010. Alternately, just turn up on the night.
