Drop In event for Safe and Warm Campaign
A Wirral Council initiative to help residents keep healthy is to hold a drop in session for the public.
‘Stay Safe and Warm’ is a campaign offering advice and support along with electric blanket testing for Wirral residents. The drop-in event will take place in Birkenhead Market at a unit on the Jackson aisle from 9.30am to 3.30pm on Friday 8th March.
Tests of electric blankets will be undertaken by appointment only and on a first come first served basis. To book your place contact the Stay Safe and Warm Team on 0151 691 8448. (Any electric blankets that fail will be replaced and will no longer be able to be used. Replacement blankets will be available at a rate of one per person).
Council officers will join representatives from charities Age UK Wirral, the Fire Support Network and Energy Projects Plus to provide advice and support on issues including:
• Promoting awareness towards a fire safe society through education and support to any person involved or affected by fire and other emergencies
• Living independently and advice regarding housing, benefits, transport, health, care at home, education and training for the over 50’s
• Managing fuel bills and debt, financial assistance for damaged heating systems and boilers, home insulation and advice and support in related areas
• Free health and safety checks referring residents to a wide variety of health and housing services.
Each organisation will be providing general information about the services they have available to help people Stay Safe and Warm.
