Annual canvass: Make sure you’re on the electoral register

Wirral Council is urging residents to look out for new voting registration forms which will be arriving on their doorsteps in the next couple of weeks.
New electoral registration forms will be sent out to every household in the area between August 20th and 30th and responses are necessary in order to update the register of electors and ensure it is accurate.
Everyone should respond to the form but people who have recently moved house, young people who will soon be 18, and new voters should fill in or amend the registration form and return it in the prepaid envelope to ensure they can have their say in future national, local, EU elections, and possibly a referendum in 2011.
Even if details haven’t changed, voters still have to register – by using the Freephone number, website or by returning the form.
Apart from ensuring you have the right to cast your vote in election, having your name on the electoral register is also useful as banks and other companies check this when deciding on approving or rejecting applications for credit or finance.
If you have not received a new registration form by August 31st or if you have any queries telephone the Helpline on (0151) 691 8046.
