Public Rights of Way in Wirral

Wirral Council is responsible for footpaths and other public rights of way in Wirral.

The Council keeps the Definitive Map and Statement up to date and maintains 122 km (73 miles) of footpaths and other rights of way.

Four Walk Wirral leaflets have been produced and are available from main libraries and country park visitor centres. The leaflets show public rights of way, cycle routes and other information to enable you to plan a walk. Each leaflet also describes short walks in Wirral.

The Wirral Circular Trail is also available to download from Visit Wirral's website.

The Ordnance Survey Explorer Map No. 266 covers the Wirral peninsula and the area around Chester and Ellesmere Port. This map is at a scale of 1:25 000 and shows public rights of way and tourist information.

Newsletters are available to download from the right hand side of this page. They provide a round up of information about ongoing works and completed projects on our footpaths and Rights of Ways.
