Controlled parking zones
A Controlled Parking Zone is an area where parking is restricted, in accordance with signs placed on all entry points to the area, except in designated parking bays or where signed otherwise.
The Birkenhead Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) has replaced the Disc Zone. This means that people can no longer park free of charge within the Birkenhead zone. The new zone has been introduced to reduce congestion and accidents, encourage people to consider other transport choices, free up more parking spaces, and improve access for emergency vehicles and disabled drivers.
The Birkenhead CPZ is marked by entry and exit signs and operates from 8am to 6.30pm each day.
Between these hours you must pay to park in designated bays unless displaying a valid permit and you cannot park on single yellow lines.
