Charging for homecare and other home-based services
Fairer Charging Policies
The Department of Health requires that all adult social services departments implement a Fairer Charging Policy.
Our charging policy aims to ensure that:
- Wirral Adult Social Services maintains a reasonable level of income to fund services
- people who use our services who are receiving non-residential care services contribute to the cost of their services subject to a financial assessment
- people who use our services receive a benefits check as part of their financial assessment to ensure that they have access to their full benefits and entitlements
The charging policy does NOT cover:
- charges for residential care provided under Sections 21 or 26, National Assistance Act
- meals provided at day centres or elsewhere
- No charges are made for services provided under s117 Mental Health Act 1983
