Disabled Parking Bay Commercial Request

Wirral Council often receives requests from businesses and community groups to provide on-street parking bays for visitors who are blue badge holders.

The Council deals with each of these requests on its own merits. The requested location should not have any existing off-street parking for staff, volunteers and visitors as it is the responsibility of the business or community group to provide adequate on site parking wherever possible for blue badge holders. There is currently no charge for this service.

Some of the factors that will be considered in support of this type of request include :

• a demand for blue badge parking from their operation

• where adjacent or nearby parking would not be impacted by the bay being occupied

• where there is no alternative means of off-street parking or space within the property boundary

If you wish to apply for a bay on behalf of a business or community group please use the online request button at the top right-hand side of the page. Alternatively, please complete the Disabled Parking Bay Commercial Application Form and return it to the address indicated or drop it off at any One Stop Shop.

Following application, the process  includes a site survey to consider a suitable location before informing the adjacent businesses, neighbours and Ward Councillors of the intention to provide a bay. In some cases it is not possible to provide a bay and where this is the case you will be informed as early as possible of the reasons why the request was unsuccessful.

We must also stress that these bays are advisory only. For this reason, it is not possible for the Council's Civil Enforcement Officers to enforce who may or may not use this bay.
