Wirral's Green Flag Awards

The Green Flag Awards recognise well managed parks and open spaces for all to enjoy.

Wirral Parks and Countryside Service has achieved the prestigious Green Flag for award for 12 parks during 2011.

Green Flag Award

The Green Flag Award Scheme was launched in 1996 to recognise and reward the best green spaces in the country.

Entries for the Green Flag Awards are open to parks/green spaces located in England and Wales.

Green Pennant Award

The Green Pennant Award was launched in 2002 to recognise and reward high quality green spaces in England and Wales that are managed by voluntary or community groups.

The criteria for the award are based on the Green Flag Award criteria but have been adapted to reflect the voluntary nature of the managing group and the types sites that they are responsible for.

Green Heritage Site Accreditation

Green Heritage Site Accreditation is given in recognition of achieving the required standard in the management and interpretation of a site with local or national historic importance.

The accreditation is sponsored by English Heritage and are judged against a list of key criteria.
