Wirral has an abundance of pretty spots, ideal for relaxed picnics and days out. Try Leasowe Common, The Gunsite, Wirral Country Park, Royden Park or West Kirby Beach – all ideal for eating alfresco!
Leasowe Common
At the heart of the North Wirral Coastal Park and adjacent to Moreton Beach, this large area of green space is ideal for a relaxing day out
With plenty of free car parking, toilets and café nearby, the site is also home to the nearby Leasowe Lighthouse, which is the oldest brick-built lighthouse in the country.
The Gunsite
Situated at the Eastern end of the North Wirral Coastal Park off Bayswater Road (Wallasey), the area is predominantly sand dunes and meadow grassland.
There is plenty of free car parking, fantastic views over Leasowe Bay and, just a short walk away, Wallasey Beach which is manned by Lifeguards during the summer months.
Wirral Country Park
With large areas of short cut grassland and an adjacent beach, there is plenty to see and do on a day out. The park has spectacular views over the Dee Estuary to Wales as well as a fenced off barbecue area (must be booked in advance) and picnic benches scattered throughout.
There is plenty of free car parking, plus a café with a separate sweet and ice cream kiosk.
Royden Park
The park features the Victorian Walled Garden with beautiful grassland, meadowland and woodland.
There are also toilets adjacent to the site and a large, free car park.
West Kirby Beach
One of Wirral’s Award Winning beaches. During the summer months, this long stretch of sand offers pony rides, bouncy castle, ice cream kiosk, toilets, and much more.
The busy beach is also popular with water sports and kite fliers – so there literally is something for everyone!
