Parks, Beaches and Countryside

West Kirby BeachDo you enjoy the outdoors, Victorian parkland, tranquil lakes? Are you looking for opportunities to walk, cycle, horse-ride, play, picnic, relax?

If the answer to any of those is yes, then you must discover the Parks, Beaches and Countryside of Wirral……

From local play areas to large country parks our open spaces are a fantastic place to have fun, exercise, meet friends, get close to nature or relax and watch the world go by. What’s more, parks are free to use and are open every day of the year.

Wirral has over 1,500 hectares of public open space, including sports facilities, gardens and some stunning areas of countryside, many of which have various protective designations.

Our Parks and Countryside Service is committed to promoting and protecting our local environment and is home to a great variety of plants and animals, as well as a total of five Local Nature Reserves and eleven sites of Specific Scientific Interest.

Many of the Open Spaces are host to a wide range of events and activities throughout the year, many supported by Friends groups and local communities. The Rangers run a full calendar of events to bring local people closer to their environment and there is always lots going on and loads to see and do in our parks and countryside areas.

By exploring these pages, you can discover the facilities and features of the Parks and Open Spaces across the borough.

Walkers, horse riders, anglers, cyclists, families with young children or those who just want to take it easy, will all find something to do and enjoy.
